01Why Are BGMI and PUBG Mobile Locked at 60 FPS?

Most modern smartphones today come with smooth 90Hz or 120Hz AMOLED screens. But when you open BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) or PUBG Mobile, the graphics settings often show only up to Extreme (60 FPS).

This happens because game developers lock the frame rate using an internal whitelist. They only turn on the 120 FPS option for a few expensive sponsor phones. As a result, capable phones with fast processors like Snapdragon and MediaTek Dimensity are stuck playing at 60 FPS.

Our FPS Unlocker APK fixes this issue safely. It updates the game's internal Active.sav configuration file to match your phone's real screen refresh rate, giving you genuine 120 FPS gameplay without modifying game files or risking your account.

Playing at 120 FPS cuts touch and gyroscope delay in half (from 16.6ms down to 8.33ms). This makes recoil control much easier and close-range fights feel super smooth.

02Phone Requirements & Quick Checklist

Before starting the setup, check if your phone is ready for 120 FPS gaming:

You can also use our free online FPS Compatibility Calculator to check your phone model and estimated battery temperatures.

  • Screen Refresh Rate: Phone must have a 90Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz screen. (A 60Hz screen cannot show more than 60 FPS physically).
  • Processor: Snapdragon 7-series or 8-series, Dimensity 7000/8000/9000-series, or Google Tensor.
  • Android Version: Works on Android 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17.
  • Wi-Fi Connection: Needed only once for 2 minutes to pair wireless debugging.
  • Free Storage: At least 500 MB free internal space.
Remember to turn OFF Battery Saver mode and go to your Phone Settings > Display to make sure 120Hz is selected before starting.

03Step 1: Setup Shizuku Wireless Debugging (Android 11 to 17)

Starting from Android 11 up to Android 17, Google protects the /Android/data/ folder so regular apps cannot change files there. Shizuku is an official, open-source tool that lets you grant file write permissions safely without rooting your phone.

Follow these simple steps to set up Shizuku:

  • Install Shizuku: Download the free Shizuku app from the Google Play Store.
  • Turn on Developer Options: Open your phone Settings > About Phone, find Build Number, and tap it 7 times until it says 'You are now a developer'.
  • Enable Wireless Debugging: Go to Settings > System > Developer Options, connect your phone to Wi-Fi, and turn on Wireless Debugging.
  • Pair Shizuku: Tap on 'Wireless Debugging' > 'Pair device with pairing code'. A 6-digit code will appear. Enter this 6-digit code in the Shizuku notification prompt.
  • Start Shizuku: Open the Shizuku app and tap Start. You will see a green checkmark saying 'Shizuku is running'.
This pairing is only done once. After pairing, you only need to tap 'Start' if you restart your phone.

04Step 2: Apply the 120 FPS Profile in FPS Unlocker

Once Shizuku is running, unlocking 120 FPS takes less than 30 seconds:

1. Download FPS Unlocker v2.9.2 APK and install it on your phone.

2. Open the app and pick your game: BGMI, PUBG Mobile Global, BGMI AIR, or PUBG KR.

3. Select the 'Competitive 120 FPS' preset for the smoothest gameplay.

4. Tap Apply 120 FPS Profile. When Shizuku asks for permission, tap 'Allow all the time'.

5. The app will update your game's Active.sav configuration file automatically. You will see a success message.

05Step 3: Best In-Game Graphics Settings

Open your game and go to Settings > Graphics & Audio. To keep your frame rate at steady 120 FPS without lag, use these recommended settings:

  • Graphics: Set to Smooth (Do not use HD or HDR for competitive matches, as they heat up the phone faster).
  • Frame Rate: Set to 120 FPS (or Ultra Extreme).
  • Style: Choose Colorful or Classic.
  • Anti-Aliasing: Set to Close or 2x to save battery.
  • Auto-adjust Graphics: Turn this DISABLED so the game does not drop your FPS automatically during fights.

06Step 4: Keep Your Phone Cool During Long Matches

Running games at 120 FPS uses more processor power than 60 FPS. If your phone gets hotter than 41°C, Android will temporarily drop the frame rate to protect the battery.

Here are easy tips to maintain constant 120 FPS:

  • Take off thick back covers: A plastic or silicone case traps heat inside. Taking it off lowers temperature by 2°C to 3°C.
  • Use a small phone fan or cooler: A simple cooling fan keeps your device below 35°C so you never get frame drops.
  • Keep brightness at 60-70%: Very high screen brightness adds extra heat to the display.
  • Check our tested BGMI 4.6 Supported Devices List to see how other phones perform.
